Meet Adam Zodrow, PD Coordinator

Adam Zodrow

What’s your first and last name?

  • Adam Zodrow

What do you teach / what is your ‘title’ at school?

  • PD Coordinator @Yukon Public Schools

How are you involved in education?

  • I have a very unique role here in Yukon. I basically get to be the “boots on the ground” trainer for teachers when it comes to new curriculum initiatives, tech strategies, classroom management, YOU NAME IT!

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • 10:1 ratio, integrated curriculum, project based assessments, active, slightly chaotic, year-round, 1:1 for kiddos, no textbooks, units built around student driven dicussions and interests.

If you were to lead a session at Edcamp, what would it be about?

  • Designing media driven, project-based lessons that still align to standards-based goals.

Do you have a website or blog?

Are you on Twitter?

If you are attending EdCampOKC, we’d love to feature your information here too! Please submit this contribution form, including a small photo we can use in your post.

Share EdCampOKC on Feb 23rd via Email!

We need your help getting the word out about EdCampOKC on February 23rd! We’re now 18 days out, and we have about 50 people registered – We’ve got room for 250 more! This is a fantastic professional development opportunity in the Oklahoma City area, and it’s 100% FREE for attendees! Our first EdCampOKC will be held at Yukon High School.

Here is the slightly modified text of an email EdCampOKC organizer Tammy Parks shared recently with our Oklahoma TechDirectors Listserv members. Please copy and paste this email and send it to other teachers in Oklahoma you know, as well as those in surrounding states (especially southern Kansas and north Texas.) You can download the EdCampOKC flyer in PDF format and press release PDF to attach them directly to your email message.

Personal invitations to EdCamp are very important! Please consider sending several this week to educators you know.

I am writing to share an upcoming opportunity for a FREE education “unconference” scheduled for February 23rd at Yukon High School.  EdCamps are free, democratic, participant-driven professional development conferences for K-12 educators worldwide. Attached is an EdCampOKC flyer and press release.  If you have any questions about the conference, feel free to contact any of the organizers listed on www.edcampokc.org/organizers.  If you are not familiar with the EdCamp model, you may want to check out this short video for more information.  www.youtube.com/watch?v=gr7teMAk-hA   I also recommend this EdCamp TED Talk (16 mins) by Kristen Swanson, one of the founders of EdCamp. http://tedxtalks.ted.com/video/TEDxPhiladelphiaED-Kristen-Swan
Please help spread the word to the education stakeholders in your schools and communities.  You can also follow @EdCampOKC or #EdCampOKC on Twitter for the latest information.  Registration and more information about the conference are available on www.EdCampOKC.org. I hope to see you there!

EdCampOKC 2013 Organizer Meeting January 10th

We held a virtual organizer meeting for EdCampOKC tonight on January 10th, via a Google Hangout. Our attendees included Adam Zodrow @zodzilla, Ami Steelman @ChargerTIS, Joshua Williams @JSW_EdTech, Luke Steelman @ChargerTech, Shawn Blankenship @Blankenship_S, Tammy Parks @tparks, and Wesley Fryer @wfryer.

Our entire meeting was recorded and is available on YouTube, but we’ve edited/removed the first seven minutes of “getting set” as everyone got logged in and connected. (YouTube’s option to edit and “trim” posted videos is wonderful!) The recording is 56 minutes long.

In addition to confirming everyone’s desire to move forward with our February 23rd date (now just 43 days away) we discussed committee assignments for sponsors, PR, website/social media, t-shirts, food, and more. We are going to continue meeting on Thursday nights from 7-8 pm CST each week leading up to our February 23rd conference. Please join us if you’d like to help. Join our Google+ Community and RSVP for our next Google Air / Hangout Event linked there.

Free registration for EdCampOKC is now online and available! Use the registration button below or visit edcampokc.eventbrite.ca.

We are also actively soliciting sponsors for EdCampOKC 2013. Josh Williams has agreed to head up this committee. See our sponsorship page for more details and contact info for Josh.

Please make plans to join us for EdCampOKC on Saturday, February 23, 2013 in Yukon, Oklahoma! Let all the educators in and near Oklahoma know as well so they can plan to attend. The price is right for this great day of high quality, teacher-led professional development: FREE!
