How are you involved in education?
- I presently work as an account manager for a technology integration firm with an emphasis on public education customers and projects. I continue to volunteer my time helping school districts use technology to enhance learning.
What does your ideal school or classroom look like?
- Fewer bells and walls. More collaborative spaces. Teachers as mentors and facilitators spending time with students individually and in small groups during the school day, with one-way lectures reserved for after hours–delivered on a mobile, Internet connected device. Curriculum focused on challenge-based learning in order to emphasize problem formulation, analysis, writing, and collaboration skills rather than content knowledge.
If you were to lead a session at Edcamp, what would it be about?
- Using free, online tools to facilitate collaborative projects among teachers and students.
