How are you involved in education?

  • I am a co-teacher who brings real life examples into each classroom I step into. Our students can hear our words, but do they know what they mean? I feel it is my job to help all students “SEE” what my words mean in their life.

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • Actively, involved in whatever subject that is in front of them. “Experience” stations are big in my math class, where each student gets an opportunity to touch, see, and experience how to make it real for each student. I want to see more “project” based learning in my classroom.

If you were to lead a session at Edcamp, what would it be about?

  • Paper slide video – every student can demonstrate what they know regardless of their learning level. They are easy and FUN!

  • 5th grade Science

How are you involved in education?

  • How am I not? My colleagues will tell you, I spend too much time at school. I enjoy my “prep” time, coming up with new ideas and activities for my students to make them think about what they are learning. I used to be ready with answers, now I’m ready with questions for them to find the answers. I love the technology direction of our school (which is not to say I good at making it all happen); I enjoy the process of learning and how it will encourage my students to be problem solvers instead of problem creators.

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • Ideally, my classroom would be students teaching one another, helping one another, and taking responsibility for their own learning. I am very interested in the flipped classroom to see how it works.Students actively discussing and problem solving would be wonderful.

If you were to lead a session at Edcamp, what would it be about?

  • Google folders for student’s work.

How are you involved in education?

  • I teach Pre-AP English 2 and Creative Writing 1 and 2 at Deer Creek High School in Edmond. I’m a teacher consultant for the Oklahoma Writing Project, and serve on the board for the Oklahoma Council of Teachers of English.

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • My ideal classroom is filled with books students choose to read, notebooks students want to fill with writing, and a teacher who is given to support to push each student to the next level.

    *How to implement a choice-based reading program at the high school level

How are you involved in education?

  • I teach world history and world geography to juniors and seniors at Broken Arrow Senior High School in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. I love using technology in the classroom and I am always looking for new ways to use technology on a limited budget.

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • I would love to see all students actively involved in the material – learning new skills and getting prepared to be successful in the digital age.

  • I’ve recently gotten interested in using infographics in the classroom and would love to share some of my ideas.

  • Every child on task working with hands-on activities discovering things that make them say WOW!!

How are you involved in education?

  • During the day I teach resource English classes. I am also department head over many of the electives and resource classes. Two nights per week I teach History at the GOLD Academy Alternative School. I am also currently involved in the Downtown Clinton History Project. I have a group of students researching the history of the downtown buildings to display during the reunion celebration in May.

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • My ideal classroom would consist of a group of students that want to be there and learn as much as they can. They would absorb everything and strive to learn more.

If you were to lead a session at Edcamp, what would it be about?

  • I would like to attend sessions about Core Curriculum, Flipping the Classroom, and integrating iPads.

How are you involved in education?

  • I teach 6 sections of 5th grade science. In the summers I teach Great Expectations methodology as often as I can. Not for the extra income, but to pirate as many ideas and techniques as possible!

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • I’d love to see more student driven curriculum, with highly engaged children (and teachers for that matter!) who are eager to get to school in the morning and don’t want to leave at the end of the day.

  • I’d love to connect with others who are flipping the classroom, using Project Based Learning, and incorporating independent study into their lessons.

  • I teach at OSU-OKC and Southern Nazarene University Business Management, Economics, Personal Finance, Intro. to Business and Strategic Management (MBA Capstone class). I am working towards my PhD at OSU in Workforce Education and am a Research Assistant assigned to the College of Business there.

  • Self-Directed Learning evironment with the teacher serving as a facilitator. All technology in play to enhance the learning experience.

How are you involved in education?

  • I teach 9th grade English, and I am the the newspaper adviser at Clinton High School.

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • I would love to have a paperless classroom where the students are the leaders in learning. I would love to throw out a topic or piece of literature and have them dissect it on their own. For my newspaper, I would enjoy seeing a daily, online publication instead of a bi-monthly, paper copy.

If you were to lead a session at Edcamp, what would it be about?

  • At this point, I don’t feel that I am an expert at anything. I am what I call a “techturtle”. I am slow, but I am poking my head out from my shell and exploring new things to use in my classroom.
