How are you involved in education?

  • I teach AP Language and AP Literature at Putnam City West High School. I am also the English Department chair and serve as a new teacher mentor, senior class sponsor, and on the schools guiding coalition and title I committee.

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • My ideal school would be one that implemented project based learning across content areas. Instead of students sitting in 50 minute departmentalized classes, they would work with a team of teachers to understand and come up with solutions for real world problems.

If you were to lead a session at Edcamp, what would it be about?

  • Design Thinking in action – Design Thinking is a different approach to PBL.

How are you involved in education?

  • I am a differentiation facilitator at John Rex Charter School, which in a nutshell, means I am the Gifted/Talented Director and Special Education Director. I work with grades PreK-6.

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • My current school is my ideal school! Focus on project based learning, interests of students, STEAM is a big part of our school, and letting students drive their learning.

  • Schoolwide Enrichment Model, Enrichment Clusters, working with GT students in the classroom, working with Special Education students in the classroom, twice-exceptionality.

How are you involved in education?

  • I teach middle school art, chair the children art tent at our local art festival, teach adults art and learn anything and everything I can to be a better artist and educator.

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • Full access to art supplies and art technology. Under 20 students who want to learn art.

  • Collaborative teaching and learning. How to integrate multiple subjects in to lessons.

  • 8th grade US History – My title? Miles of History

How are you involved in education?

  • I am a social studies teacher and in my classroom, The Highway of History, we attempt to explore the continuous ribbon of happenings, one after another, the become the mile markers of “historical events” that influence our lives. As Miles of History, I facilitate their journey. I love what I do and I love middle schoolers!

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • I would love to have a classroom of exploration. Students doing their own thing, figuring out how our current unit impacted the people the time and how it still echoes today. History doesn’t repeat itself, but it rhymes – Mark Twain (maybe!)Also, my ideal classroom would be an environment where students felt safe being wrong. I had a student tell me, “I don’t want to answer because what if I’m wrong?” Ideally, students should acknowledge errors but not dwell, not suffer because of them.

If you were to lead a session at Edcamp, what would it be about?

  • I’m not sure. Something historical. Something in which I could wear a hat. Probably integrating photography and videography into the modern classroom.

  • Small class sizes, supportive administration, teacher autonomy, compassion and empathy from all sides, time to do what is needed, and a living wage.

How are you involved in education?

  • Supporting teachers in their professional goals to grow as educators. Actually, teachers do not view their goals as professional, but as personal. Teachers teach to change lives because they want to, not because they have to. Therefore, I must have one of the best jobs in the world.

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • My ideal classroom/school would be one in which every learner believed he or she can be successful. Not just at school, but in life. A growth mindset is the key to lifelong learning.

How are you involved in education?

  • I am a certified Whole Brain Teaching instructor and the Core Knowledge Coordinator for the national organization, and I present workshops for schools interested in WBT. I’m also a National DonorsChoose Teacher Ambassador and give workshops to help teachers set up grants for their classrooms! But mainly, I love sharing books with some pretty great kids!

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • My ideal classroom is filled with children talking and sharing, and choosing what they read. The kids are engaged from the minute I greet them at the door, asking questions and teaching each other. And… the room is overflowing with books!

  • I am involved in a lot of great things in education! I work with a number of partners and through grants to ensure access to early childhood programming – Early Birds/Smart Start in the Schools, Parents as Teachers, childcare programming for teen parents. I also support early childhood teachers PK-1st grade in the district.

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • My ideal school/classroom looks like students and teachers engaging in the learning process. I love seeing the joy of learning happening in the classroom.
